Extensive experience in urban and regional planning, zoning and economic development at the regional, county, city and township level in Michigan. Developed and directed the implementation of the initial phase of the award winning Open Space Planning in Hamburg Township, Livingston County. Preparation of concept and site plans for a variety of residential, commercial and industrial uses. One of the most notable was Michigan’s first Traditional Neighborhood Development based on new urbanism design principals for Town Commons in Howell, Michigan.
Prepared proposals and administered over $40 million in grants received for numerous Federal and State funded programs for local economic development initiatives. Tax Increment Finance experience with over 20 projects directing several DDA’s, a County Economic Development Corporation and most recently the Executive Director of a Local Development Finance Authority providing $28 million in TIF Bonds for the redevelopment of a brownfield site to attract the $270 million investment by Visteon Corporation for its World Headquarters and consolidation of 3,200 jobs.
Professional qualifications include Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning, Iowa State University; Licensed Professional Community Planner (PCP) registration # 501 in Michigan, national registration in the American Institute Certified Planners (AICP), Michigan Real Estate License, and graduate of the Seaside Institute Course on New Urbanism taught by Andres Duany and affiliates.
