Dick Meloy, Advisor, Alternative Energy

Dick has more than 15 years experience in various phases of the energy and alternative energy industries.  As Senior Vice President, New Business Development of the Power Project Financing subsidiary of GE Capital, he started a new venture for GE in the oil and gas industry.  The focus was midstream asset project financing and the acquisition of producing reserves using price swaps on future production to mitigate the variability of market prices.

Later, Dick formed a management consulting business with the goal of building equity in entrepreneurial enterprises in the alternative energy field.  He became involved with the inventor of a low temperature Stirling engine to convert waste industrial heat and low pressure steam to power.  This venture continues its development.  Dick is conversant with a wide range of alternative energy technologies and has followed the development of the industry for ten years.  He was a first-round investor in an energy technology company that completed an IPO in 2000.

Prior to his energy experience,  Dick developed corporate and business strategies as a consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton.  His clients included a large agribusiness company, an oil refinery, a packaged foods company and several commercial banks and a commercial finance company.

Dick’s first employment after leaving the Navy in 1970 was with the First National Bank of Chicago, now part of JP Morgan Chase.  He handled the commercial banking relationships of companies involved in the agribusiness and retail foods industries.
