Mr. Sam Kamath, Senior Associate, Energy
Sam has over twelve years of experience in Energy and Infrastructure finance and consulting. He has been involved in over 30 transactions with a cumulative value of over $21 billion.
Prior to joining Sigma Capital, Sam was based in Dubai, working for ACWA Power International, a privately held large power and water developer in the Middle East, as an Associate Director – Corporate Finance. While at ACWA Power, he had lead the capital raising initiatives for the company, including the first corporate debt of $300 million with a group of international banks and equity with strategic investors. Additionally, he was responsible for running several strategic initiatives for the top management of the company.
Prior to ACWA Power, Sam was an Associate Director at Fitch Ratings, New York, in the Global Infrastructure and Project Finance group. While at Fitch, he had lead/co-lead over 25+ credit rating transactions in a variety of sectors, including Power, Oil & Gas, Toll Roads, and Airports, with a focus on US, Caribbean, and Latin America. Some of the key transactions that he had worked on included a portfolio of renewable projects in the New England and in California, numerous US Department of Energy (DOE) projects involving clean fuel technologies such as coal-to-gasification and fuel cell technologies, multi-billion dollar congestion pricing toll road in Dallas, Texas, and rehabilitation of an airport and a Greenfield toll road in the Caribbean.
Earlier Sam had worked for several Fortune 500 companies including General Electric (GE), Hewlett-Packard, and Deutsche Bank as a consultant. It is worth consideration that during his career at GE, he was the only consultant to be recognized by the CEO of a GE company for his contribution towards a very key presentation.
Sam holds an MBA in Finance & Accounting from Washington University in St. Louis and a degree in Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communications from SJ College of Engineering, Mysore.
