Clara E. Del Villar, Advisor, Renewable Energy, Fund Management

Clara E. Del Villar is a senior financial professional with a 26-year career of executive experience in Global Capital Markets, Banking, investment management, business development and marketing strategy.

Focusing on the Clean Energy Sector for the past 6 years, she has most recently functioned as Vice President of Marketing & Business Development for Acorn Energy, Inc.(a publicly traded energy technology Holding company, NASDAQ--ACFN)—tasked with raising the profile of this energy investment firm in the financial community and establishing strategic partnerships.

In addition, she spent the last several years heading a small advisory operation -- InEnergy, Inc. as Managing Director.  InEnergy is a NY based, Energy Technology Consulting Division of the Energy & Environmental Research Center (www.undeerc.org located in Grand Forks, North Dakota. This organization provides top research and commercialization consultation to the Department of Energy and over 1000 leading global industrial corporations. The NYC office advisory practice caters to municipal authorities, top family offices, private investors and companies in the energy area—as well as related media contacts in the field. In 2010, Ms Del Villar also had a advisory role with Enertech Capital Management (Energy Technology Venture Fund) in business development.

From 2004-2006, she worked as Vice President for Financial Compliance and Mergers & Acquisition Integration projects at Nortel Networks reporting to CEO, William A. Owens.

Prior to that position and a brief assignment with the U.S Treasury Technical Assistance Financial Markets Program in Amman, Jordan, she worked for 14 years at Neuberger Berman/Lehman as a Senior Portfolio Manager, managing and marketing $3.5 billion in Tax Exempt Assets and as a Sr. Vice President/Regional Marketing Director in Private Asset Management building the High Net Worth Business.

Prior to Neuberger, she spent 5 years with Nomura Securities International as Sr. Vice President, co-founding the U.S. Institutional Fixed Income Market Institutional Sales Division and developing Arbitrage/Risk Management strategies for client portfolios-- becoming highest ranking female at the (then) largest Global Financial Corp. Her early financial market career experience was gained in the Capital Markets Divisions of Chemical Bank and Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette.

Ms. Del Villar devoted 1990-1991 to philanthropic pursuits -- teaching Entrepreneurial training to low income students in summer programs for the National Foundation to Teach Entrepreneurship (NFTE) at Wharton and Columbia University.

She currently serves as a director on the Executive Board of the Women's Health Symposium in New York; on an advisory committee of the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) and will be serving as adjunct professor in Entrepreneurship studies at Baruch College for 2012 spring session. She is a former Trustee of the Metropolitan College of New York, Women’s National Republican Club and Women’s Campaign Fund.  Her memberships include the Manhattan Institute, Rockefeller University Women &Science, Spanish Institute and America's Society.

Ms. Del Villar holds a BSFS from Georgetown University Foreign Service School with a degree in International Finance/Commerce. She is fluent in Spanish and has a working knowledge of French.  Her hobbies include piano, skiing, mountain hiking and climbing.
